With the right care, your leather lasts a lifetime.
Your Beocca is made from 100% vegetable-tanned leather — a living material that only grows more beautiful over time. On this page you'll find everything: daily care, a step-by-step plan, tips by leather type and what to do about stains.
Four small habits
that make the difference.
Vegetable-tanned leather needs little daily care — but consistent habits are a thousand times better than one big clean-up once a year.
Wipe off dust
A dry, soft microfibre or cotton cloth keeps the pores clean. Once a week or after an outing.
Keep its shape
Fill your bag with tissue paper or a towel for longer storage. Preferably keep it in a cotton dust bag, never plastic.
Avoid sun
Direct sunlight makes the leather discolour unevenly. Keep your bag away from hot car windows and radiators.
Prevent moisture
Vegetable-tanned leather is sensitive to water. Try to avoid rain. Does it get wet anyway? Dab it dry and let it dry slowly.
Cleaning & conditioning
in five steps.
Once a quarter. Fifteen minutes. A ritual that takes your bag from a few years to a lifetime.
Waterproofing
· Before first use · 10 minSpray your bag with a waterproofing spray based on beeswax or fluorocarbon resin. Test on an inconspicuous spot first, then spray from 20–30 cm away in a thin, even layer.
Drying
· 12–24 hours · room temperatureLet the waterproofing fully absorb at room temperature. No hairdryer or heating, heat dries out the leather.
Cleaning
· Every 3–6 months · 5 minRemove dirt with a slightly damp cloth and pH-neutral leather soap. Work in soft, circular motions. Make sure the cloth feels almost dry.
Conditioning
· Right after cleaning · 10 minApply a small amount of leather conditioner to a clean cloth. Spread in circles, let it absorb for 15–30 min, then buff for a subtle sheen.
Repeat
· Every 2–3 monthsRepeat the waterproofing step every few months, or more often with daily use and changing weather. Condition every 3–6 months.
Not all leather
needs the same approach.
Beocca mainly works with smooth full-grain, but you'll also find suede accents and pure vegetable patina pieces in the collection.
Supple and velvety. The basis of almost every Beocca.
Smooth vegetable-tanned leather with a sanded or polished surface. Follow the standard care: dust, waterproof, condition, polish.

What to do
when something happens anyway.
Stains and scratches are part of a life with leather. With the right first response they're usually easy to treat — by situation below.
Lightly moisten the whole surface with a damp cloth so it dries evenly. The stain often fades by itself as the leather develops a patina.
Sprinkle cornstarch or talcum powder on the stain and let it sit overnight. Then gently brush off with a soft brush. Repeat if necessary.
The trickiest one. Dab carefully with a cotton bud and a drop of pure isopropyl alcohol. Work from the outside in. Test on an inconspicuous spot first.
A slightly damp cloth with a tiny bit of pH-neutral soap. Don't rub, dab briefly, then condition to restore moisture.
Superficial: rub with your fingertip, the natural oils in the leather fill it in. Deeper: a layer of conditioner nourishes and makes the spot less visible.

Every 3 to 6 months, depending on how intensively you wear it. A bag you use daily wants conditioning a little more often; a showpiece bag that hangs in the closet every 6 months.
Well-known, reliable brands for vegetable-tanned leather are Saphir, Collonil and Tarrago. Important: choose products without silicones or mineral oils, as these are bad for the leather in the long run.
Don't panic. Dab off the excess water with a clean, dry cloth (don't rub), and let the bag dry slowly at room temperature. So no hairdryer, heater or sun. After drying, treat it with a leather conditioner to restore moisture.
Preferably not. Plastic blocks airflow and can cause mould. Use a cotton dust bag (which comes standard with your order) or a clean pillowcase.
On the contrary. That's called patina and is exactly why we use vegetable-tanned leather. The longer you wear your bag, the more beautiful and personal it becomes.
No. Suede and nubuck have an open structure and should be treated dry, brush instead of cream. Never use conditioner or a damp cloth on suede.
