Beocca is a Dutch brand specialising in handmade leather bags and accessories made from vegetable-tanned leather. We combine traditional craftsmanship with timeless design and create products that last for years — and only get more beautiful over time.
Our story
Beocca was born from a simple conviction: good products don't need to be made quickly or in mass production. In a world of fast fashion and disposable products, we consciously choose a different approach. We believe a bag is more than an accessory — it's a daily companion that should be reliable, functional and beautiful.
From the Netherlands, we work with experienced artisans who have mastered their craft for generations. The result? Leather bags, backpacks, laptop bags and accessories that are not only beautiful, but also built to withstand daily life.
Our mission
We want to make high-quality, sustainable leather products accessible to everyone who values quality and authentic design. No trends that disappear after one season, but timeless pieces that become more beautiful as you use them. With Beocca, we strive for a collection that is both functional and aesthetic, with attention to every detail.
Craft & craftsmanship
All our products are handmade in small, specialised workshops in India, where craftsmanship takes centre stage. Each bag, wallet and accessory is personally finished by a craftsman. This means no two products are exactly the same — each item has its own unique character and appearance.
This manual process takes more time than machine production, but the difference is palpable. From the stitching to the edges: every detail is treated with care. This is how we guarantee a quality level that you simply won't find in mass production.
100% vegetable-tanned leather
At Beocca, we exclusively use vegetable-tanned leather. This is a centuries-old tanning process that uses natural tannins from tree bark and plants instead of harmful chemicals like chromium.
Why vegetable-tanned leather?
Vegetable-tanned leather is not only better for the environment, it also offers unique properties that chrome-tanned leather doesn't have. The leather develops a beautiful patina over time: a natural sheen and colour change that occurs through use and exposure to light. This means your Beocca product literally becomes more beautiful the longer you use it. Additionally, vegetable-tanned leather is sturdier, more durable and has a richer, warmer scent than synthetically treated leather.
Sustainability & responsibility
Sustainability is woven into everything we do. By choosing vegetable-tanned leather, we limit the use of harmful substances. Our products are designed to last for years — if not a lifetime — making them a conscious choice compared to fast fashion and disposable products.
Besides the material, we also pay attention to our packaging. We package our products carefully but without unnecessary materials, minimising waste. We are continuously working on making our operations and supply chain more sustainable.
